Chances are, if you’re reading this, you’re familiar with the (mostly) painstaking process of finding the perfect pair of jeans. What silhouette is best for your shape? Does wash make a difference? What about rise? While we’ve all asked ourselves those questions at least once, here are the one and done tips on finding the best jeans for a curvy figure.

THE SKINNY ON SKINNY JEANS
Slip into a pair of skinny jeans and start turning heads! This silhouette is an essential for every girl’s closet—no matter your shape. Opt for skinnies with a mid to high rise and plenty of stretch for a leg-elongating effect. Who can say no to that?
BALANCE YOUR CURVES WITH FLARE
Styling 101: A sense of balance is the foundation to all figure-flattering ensembles. For those of us that are well-endowed in the hip and bottom department, balance can be achieved by slipping into a pair of flares. Look for jeans that comfortably hug your thighs and flare just above your knees.
KEEP IT COMFY IN BOYFRIEND JEANS
Comfort is key. Boyfriend jeans are super comfy and totally chic—that’s a combo you can’t argue with. The stretchy, straighter silhouette found in most boyfriend jeans contours thighs for a streamlined appearance that’s just the right amount of roomy.
DARK WASH NEVER FAILS
Jeans with a solid, dark wash have a slimming and lengthening effect on every figure. Plus, a darker wash allows you to easily pair your jeans with a blouse and heels for work or with a tee and sneakers on the weekends. That’s a win-win to us!
LOOK FOR A CONTOURED WAISTBAND
You think you’ve found the perfect jeans, but then—the dreaded waistband gap. If this sounds all too familiar, there’s a solution: the contoured waistband. Different from your typical denim waistband that’s designed straight across, a contoured waistband is cut on an arced line, allowing jeans to perfectly stretch over your curves and come back in at the waist.
MID-RISE—YOUR PERFECT IN-BETWEEN
This universally flattering rise offers the most comfortable fit while offsetting fuller hips. Ideally, a mid-rise should land about two fingers below your navel, without having to be tugged up with every movement you make. If you’re constantly yanking on your belt loops, that’s a sign that your jeans are either too big or too tight.
FLATTER YOUR FIGURE IN A HIGH-RISE
A high-rise jean with an ample amount of stretch performs similarly to shapewear, defining the smallest part of your waist and reigning in your tummy. In a well-fitted pair of high-rise jeans, the waistband should sit on top of your hips, naturally following the lines of your silhouette. Bonus tip: a higher rise adds length to your legs!
A LITTLE BIT OF STRETCH GOES A LONG WAY
Last but certainly not least—stretch in your denim is essential! Opt for jeans with a spandex content under 5% for a comfortable, curve-hugging fit that won’t stretch or sag.
