Sweaters are a must-have in the colder months—how can you resist with all of the cozy styles we see year after year? But sometimes our favorite knits need a little extra TLC (don’t we all!). If you’ve got a case of the sweater-care worries, I think I have some tips that can turn your SOS into a sweater-weather kind of day.
Read for tips on keeping your sweater from stretching out.
Check the Label
The easiest way to decode sweater care? Check the label! Manufacturers will always list the care instructions on the tag in your sweater, so be sure to peep that label before you throw it in the washer. Another good rule of thumb is to wash on the gentlest cycle in cold water, in a delicates bag.
Lay Flat to Dry
Raise your hand if you hate hanger stretch marks on your sweaters! The trick to avoiding these at all costs? Lay your sweaters on top of a towel to dry and skip the hanger. Skipping a hang dry session will also save your sweater from becoming a sweater dress.
Sweaters Already Stretched?
If your sweater is already stretched out, there’s still hope! If you just need to tighten it up a bit, spritz water on your sweater and put in the dryer at medium heat for 10-20 minutes.
