Wardrobe Must-Haves For New Moms
- Treat yourself to a new loose but flattering pair of jeans. Purge your closet of anything ill-fitting & invest in a pair that can be your new favorite. Choose one in a dark wash or black—spills & stains won’t have a chance!
- Light layers like draped cardigans are easy to throw on & will give your basic outfits an instant boost.
- Save time and add interest to your daily outfits with accessories. They can jazz up even the simplest of looks, so think of adding statement necklaces & pops of color whenever you can.
- Your baby bag is now your handbag. Find something that’s practical but still shows off your personal style.
Stylist Tip #1:
Look for pieces that flatter you now. Considerations for this time period include hemline and neckline (especially if you’re nursing), so look for pieces that are long enough to cover your transitioning body and necklines that either provide easy access or flatter your shape. V-necks & button-ups are your new best friend.
At this point, you might even want to consider ditching any maternity pants—it’s time for a refresh. Choose a silhouette that’s extra relaxed like a boyfriend or straight-leg jean.
Stylist Tip #2:
Try layering & proportion play. Depending on the time of year, look for light layers that won’t add extra bulk. It’s also a great way to play with proportions. Try a cropped ¾-sleeve jacket in a soft, flowy fabric over a long, draped top. The jacket will hit you where your natural waist is and give you a nice shape.
Stylist Tip #3
Cover with a go-to tunic. Look for a tunic-style top in a fashion-forward print or style. We love embroidery & pattern—it’s interesting and the attention will be on your fabulous top! Not only can you wear this over shorts, but you can style it over leggings or your old (but new again) favorite jeans. It’s perfectly comfortable & stylish while giving you comfort & coverage!
