Ditch the dirt by gently brushing the grimy area in a single direction with a suede cleaning brush. Suede brushes can be purchased online or at most drug stores. For a DIY approach, you can use a clean toothbrush or dry towel instead.
2. Erase Creases With Buffing
Creases are caused when the suede gets pressed down in one direction. To smooth creases, vigorously buff the creased area in a circular motion with a suede brush, clean toothbrush or towel.
Pro Tip: Still can’t get that stubborn scuff out? Try gently rubbing the area with a pink pencil eraser or emery board.
3. Eliminate Stains With White Vinegar
First, use a slightly damp towel to gently wipe the stained area. Next, rub the stain in a circular motion using a towel dampened with white vinegar. Allow the shoes to fully dry. if the stain remains, repeat these steps.
4. Oust Oils With Powder
Accidentally step in some oil at the gas station? Absorb the oil by dusting the oily area with baby powder, foot powder or cornstarch. Let the powder sit for about an hour, then sweep it away with a soft brush or towel. Depending on the amount of oil you need to remove, you may need to repeat this process. Once the oil has been extracted, brush the shoe with a suede cleaning brush to restore the suede texture.
5. Use A Suede Protector Spray
To prevent future damage, use a protective sealant spray made specifically for suede. These sprays can be purchased online or at most drug stores.
