Q: I’m pretty petite, but would love to wear culottes. Will they make me look too short? – Cody

Culottes can be a tricky trend to navigate. They’re not quite trousers, but longer than most shorts. Though we often see this chic trend donned by taller ladies, don’t be fooled! Culottes can be worn by every shape and size!

Here’s how to wear culottes if you’re petite!

Stitch Fix Women’s outfit laydown featuring grey wide-leg pants, camel crew neck pullover and brown animal-print flats.

1. Try them on for size

Sure, for a petite gal these pants option may look a bit daunting when you first lay eyes on a pair. But before you make any judgements, be sure to try them on!

2. Mind your hemline

While you generally see taller women donning a mid-calf length, a safer bet for petite women is a culotte that falls 2-4 inches below the knee.

3. Add Height with Heels

Add some height with heels to elongate your legs! Espadrille wedges or block heels are the perfect warm weather shoes to reach for. Just not into heels? Choose a pair of pointy toe flats to create the illusion of longer legs.

4. Balance it Out

To strike a balance between the volume of your bottoms, choose a more fitted top. Tuck in a sleek blouse or tank to accentuate your waist and create an hourglass figure.
