So how did Stylist, Michelle L. learn how to dress her shape? Keep reading to find out!
Name: Michelle L., Senior Stylist
Body Shape: Inverted triangle
How would you describe your personal style?
It’s always evolving, depending on how I feel! I love to mix up my style, inspired by trends, but always incorporating pieces that are timeless and focused on comfort.
How would you describe your body shape?
I’m a classic, inverted triangle. I’m busty with broad shoulders and a subtle waistline so I’m relatively larger in my upper body.
What outfit makes you feel amazing?
One outfit that makes me feel amazing is my halter neck LBD dress. It’s simple, elegant and sassy all at the same time! Plus, it shows off my best assets—my legs!
How did you learn how to dress your body shape?
It’s simple—I learned through lots of trial and error. When I was in my 20s, I wasn’t quite comfortable with my body so I downplayed it with looser and more modest clothing, which made me look heavier than I really was. In my 30s, I learned to embrace my changing style and how to dress my figure. I started to wear clothes that were fitted, timeless and most important, comfortable!

Any styling tricks for your shape that you can share?
I think halter tops, scoop and V-necks should be go-to’s for every inverted or apple shape. They really show off and flatter your shoulders and neckline. To balance out the rest of my figure, I go for bottoms with more width to them, like straight leg, bootcut and wide leg pants. They also give the illusion of more curves when you have a narrower waist!
