From high-top lace-ups to canvas slip-ons, sneakers are a fashionista’s go-to for both style and comfort all year long. Just because your favorite kicks feel worn in doesn’t mean they have to look that way!
Here are 5 easy tips to keep your sneakers clean.
1. Wash & Repeat
Just like a car, your sneakers will benefit from regular washes. Start from the bottom up by using a dish sponge, clear dish soap and warm water to remove any discoloration (and dirt) on the soles.
2. Quick Fix
In a bind for time? If you have a sudden scuff on your white sneakers, pull a quick fix with a coat of white nail polish.
3. Spot Clean
Have your cleaning tools handy for maintenance checks between washes. You can spot clean the soles and fabric upper of your shoes with a toothbrush and baby shampoo to remove any small stains in between deep cleans.
4. Power Wash
If you need a more powerful product to wipe away the grime, opt for a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda and rub the paste into deep stains and let them sit for 20 minutes. This trick will save your favorite white t-shirt as well!
5. Don’t Skip the Laces!
Be sure to give your laces a bit of TLC as well. Remove and rinse the laces with warm water and gentle soap and lay them flat to dry for best results before lacing up your tennies.
Finally, Prevention is Key for Clean Sneakers!
Once your new shoes are dry and back in commission, prevention is the name of the game. Keep your kicks from future stains with fabric protector spray and stain removal pens.
Armed with this cleaning plan, you’ll be able to keep your favorite white sneakers looking brand-new season after season!
