Keep reading for Abby’s take on My Body, My Style.
How would you describe your body shape?
I’m petite at 5’0”, yet curvy with a little junk in the trunk. It’s taken me a long time to accept that but now I just embrace it as a part of me.
How would you describe your personal style?
I would describe my style as fun, bright and colorful! I love bright pops of color and I’m not afraid to mix and match patterns. I’m a firm believer that no outfit is complete without a hat, so you’ll find me with a straw or fedora hat during spring and summer, a beret or baker boy hat during fall, and a beanie during winter!
Has your body shape informed the way that you dress?
Yes! I shy away from body-hugging pieces that accentuate my curves (in a bad way) such as slinkier bodycon dresses. At the same time, I also shy away from anything oversized as it tends to overwhelm and drown my petite frame. Instead, I try to find pieces that are flowy yet have some sort of structure or a defined waist like a romper.
What is your go-to figure-flattering piece and why?
I love midi dresses! They elongate my legs and make me appear taller and I just love how they look with a great pair of wedges and denim jacket that you can throw on when it gets chilly! Also, midi dresses often have pockets—need I say more?
What outfit makes you feel amazing?
It’s all in the details for me! I would say that I’m pretty trendy and love details such as ruffles, off-the-shoulder anything, cut-outs, buttons, etc. I love the uniqueness of these details and when you love your outfit, it boosts your self-confidence, which in turn makes you feel amazing!
Any styling tips and tricks you can share?
Don’t be afraid to be adventurous and try new pieces that you normally wouldn’t wear! I find that most often those out-of-the-box pieces end up being some of my favorites. And most importantly, don’t be afraid to be unapologetically you when it comes to your own style!
