It’s officially official: summer is here! And with the arrival of long days and warm temps come summer events…lots of them. For starters, we have baseball games, concerts, picnics, barbecues and, our favorite, beach vacations (because, beach vacation dresses). Something bright, light and versatile that you can dress up with a cute straw-accented bag and sandals (think: drinks on some lanai) or use as a beach cover-up (think: surf-side style).

Taking your kid (or yourself) to Taylor Swift’s three-hour Eras tour? Finally seeing your favorite Nashville star? Getting a night out to hear your friend’s husband’s cover band? When you consider what to wear to a concert, you want to balance comfort—you’re likely to be standing, or, better yet, dancing—with some festive accents. 

Depending on the vibe of the show, it might call for rocking a graphic tee and easy studded sandals or, if you’re considering what to wear to a country concert, boots and a few frills. Mellow daytime festivals call for denim shorts, a boho-inspired top and comfy sandals. Don’t forget the crossbody bag to keep your phone (aka camera) close by!

What to wear to a bridal shower

We all know summer is wedding season, and we can definitely help you get top honors for best-dressed guest at those nuptial weekends. But let’s not forget about all the events leading up to the big day(s), too. 

Bridal showers set the tone, and whether you’re the bride, a bridesmaid or a guest showering the new couple with gifts, something cheerful and feminine feels just right for what to wear to a bridal shower in the summer. We love an all-over floral print on a flowy dress paired with wedges (no worries on the grass here) for the bride or guest. Or bring in a zingy, fresh color with a sleek sheath dress and metallic strappy heels. Finish the look with a glass of something bubbly and a cupcake—there’ll be plenty of toasts ahead.

 

What to wear to a baseball game

Batter-up! What to wear to a baseball game (or soccer game, or a pickleball match) can be a bit of a puzzle. Comfort and staying cool at the peak of summer are key, but you want to look cute, too. 

Stick to comfy basics with a touch of color: Sneakers and flat sandals are your friends. A midi cotton tank dress (as soft as a T-shirt) and fresh white sneakers will have you ready to cheer. Pair a punchy top in your team’s colors with forever-summer-essential white denim shorts. Either way, top ‘em all off with a cap telling everyone who you’re rooting for. Winners all around.

What to wear to a barbecue

Or a picnic. Or any outdoor gatherings where there will be grilling, pasta salad and/or fireworks shows. Casual floaty pieces in oh-yes-it’s-summer prints like garden-y florals and gingham (you say picnic, we say gingham) are the right call. Pair an above-the-knee dress with woven accessories in peachy hues or a puff-sleeve top with easy jeans and lawn-ready wedges. Now the only decision you have to make is: burger or hot dog?

What to wear for a summer date night

Summer is your opportunity for some pretty magical outdoor dates: Drinks on a patio at dusk. A delicious meal under the stars. A rooftop sunset moment. All made possible with balmy weather and the most free-spirited of the seasons. 

Take the opportunity to get dressed up and feel special (especially if you’re looking for what to wear on a first date). A one-shoulder top and vibrant midi skirt make for a surprising-but-fun combo—don’t forget a denim jacket, in case it gets chilly out there. Because, remember, denim is a summer staple, too.
