How We Got Here

Founder Katrina Lake created Stitch Fix to blend the human element of personal styling with high-quality clothing and proprietary algorithms. She shipped the first Stitch Fix order out of her Cambridge apartment in 2011 while attending Harvard, and today the company has brought the exclusive shopping experience to millions of men and women nationwide. In 2016, we launched men’s, and extended our women’s offerings to include plus sizes in 2017.

Katrina is passionate about helping women achieve everyday confidence. She founded Stitch Fix to help women everywhere discover and explore their style through a truly client-focused shopping experience. Prior to founding Stitch Fix, Katrina developed extensive experience at the intersection of fashion, retail and technology. She managed the blogger platform at venture-backed social commerce company Polyvore and consulted with a variety of e-commerce and traditional retailers during her time at The Parthenon Group. Additionally, she has invested in and worked with dozens of entrepreneurs and start-ups at Leader Ventures. Katrina holds a B.S. in Economics from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

What's the best styling advice you've ever received?

Don’t be afraid to stick to a uniform. Finding a silhouette and color palette that really works for you and flatters your body makes it so much easier to get dressed, and ensures you’ll leave the house feeling great every day.

Scott is responsible for the company’s legal affairs, and is a member of the company’s executive and leadership team. He has over 15 years of corporate legal experience, having served as the chief legal officer at several technology companies. Previously, Scott served as the General Counsel of Trulia where he helped lead their initial public offering and subsequent $2.5B sale to Zillow. He also served in leadership positions at Beepi, Imperva, Danger, and Microsoft. Scott attended Yale University and graduated with a B.A. in Ethics, Politics & Economics. He earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.

Elizabeth Spaulding is President at Stitch Fix, where she is focused on driving the next phase of the company’s growth, including direct-buy capabilities and international expansion efforts. Prior to Stitch Fix, Spaulding was Global Head and Founder of the Digital Practice at Bain & Company, where she was a partner and served on the Board of Directors. During her tenure at Bain, she supported clients in digital transformations, with a particular focus on consumer and tech sectors, and led the firm’s efforts to continually evolve and grow new capabilities through partnerships and M&A. She additionally supported Bain's pro bono and social impact efforts, a passion she brings to Stitch Fix. Spaulding received her MBA, as an Arjay Miller Scholar, from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and a BAS in Industrial Engineering and French from Stanford University. Elizabeth is on the board of Prealize Health (formerly Cardinal Analytx), a machine learning startup in the healthcare sector, focused on getting better care sooner to patients and founded by two Stanford professors.

He joined Stitch Fix to deliver a superior customer experience that benefits from what he believes is the best retail business model in a long time. Previously, Mike was COO at Walmart.com where he oversaw all operations for a $5 billion division, including one of the most successful multi-channel offerings in the industry, which drove as much as half of Walmart.com’s sales. Prior to Walmart, Mike worked in business and corporate development in software and consumer internet. He holds a B.A. from the University of Virginia and an M.B.A. from the Haas School at University of California, Berkeley.

He is responsible for the multitude of algorithms deployed in nearly every function of the company: merchandise, inventory, marketing, forecasting & demand, operations and, of course, the styling platform. Prior to joining Stitch Fix, he was the Vice President of Data Science and Engineering at Netflix. He’s also held analytical roles at Yahoo!, Blue Martini, Proxicom and Information Resources Inc. Eric holds a B.A. in Economics from San Francisco State University, an M.S. in Information Systems from Golden Gate University, and an M.S. in Management Science & Engineering from Stanford University.

Brad Klingenberg is the Chief Algorithms Officer of Stitch Fix, leading the Algorithms team of data scientists and platform engineers. Previously Jevan held key people operations and business leadership roles at high-growth, consumer-centric companies including Minted, Blue Bottle Coffee, and Square. Jevan began his career at McKinsey & Company where he spent nearly a decade in both consulting and recruiting leadership roles in North America and Asia-Pacific. Jevan received an A.B. in East Asian Studies from Harvard College, an MBA from Harvard Business School, and a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School.

    Founder, Baseline Ventures

    Steve is the founder of Baseline Ventures, and a founding investor in Stitch Fix. Bringing a variety of experience from his time at companies like eBay, Microsoft, Starbucks, and Digital Equipment Corporation, and his time as a partner at Kleiner Perkins, Steve helps founders build and grow early stage companies into change-affecting enterprises. Steve is a founding investor in Instagram and an early investor in companies including Twitter, OMG Pop, and GoodEggs. Since its inception, Baseline has invested in more than 75 companies and helped more than 25 companies exit profitably for founders and investors alike. Steve holds a B.A. in Business from the University of Washington, and an M.B.A. from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

  • Bill Gurley

    General Partner, Benchmark

    Bill has spent over 15 years as a General Partner at Benchmark, joining in 1999. Before entering the venture capital business, Bill spent four years on Wall Street as a top-ranked research analyst, including three years at Credit Suisse First Boston. Prior to his investment career, Bill was a design engineer at Compaq Computer. Before that he served in the technical marketing group of Advanced Micro Devices’ embedded processor division. Bill maintains a blog on the evolution and economics of high technology businesses called Above the Crowd. Over his venture career, he has worked with such companies as GrubHub, Seamless, Nextdoor, OpenTable, Uber, and Zillow.com. Bill holds a B.S. in computer science from the University of Florida and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.

  • Marka Hansen

    Former President, Gap North American and Banana Republic

    Marka is an advisor and board member at Stitch Fix, bringing years of retail experience as the former President of Gap North America and Banana Republic to the team. At Gap, Marka was responsible for all aspects of the Gap brand, including global design and marketing. Prior to Gap, Marka held the position of President of Banana Republic for four years. Marka started her retail career at Robinson’s department store in 1977 holding buying positions in Women’s and Men’s before joining Gap in 1987. Marka has been a merchandise and marketing advisor for Sur la Table, where she has served as a director, since 2001, and is a director at The Orvis Company and J.Jill. Marka holds a B.A. in Liberal Studies from Loyola Marymount University.

  • Kirsten Lynch

    EVP & Chief Marketing Officer, Vail Resorts

    Kirsten was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Vail Resorts in July 2011. As CMO of Vail Resorts, Kirsten leads all marketing, sales, and communications efforts for the global mountain resort company, including driving revenue for the company’s lines of businesses, growing the company’s industry-leading season pass business and advancing the company’s data-driven marketing approach with targeted messaging to existing and prospective guests. Prior to joining Vail Resorts, Kirsten was with PepsiCo, where she was Chief Marketing Officer of the Quaker Division. Prior to PepsiCo, Kirsten worked for Kraft Foods in Marketing.

  • Sharon McCollam

    Former EVP, CFO and Chief Administrative Officer of Best Buy Co.

    Sharon most recently served as Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative and Chief Financial Officer of Best Buy Co., Inc. In this role, Sharon has been widely recognized as the co-pilot of the company’s Renew Blue transformation, which has been praised by the investment community as of one of the foremost turnarounds in the retail sector. Previously, Sharon served as Executive Vice President, Chief Operating and Chief Financial Officer of Williams-Sonoma, Inc. and in 2010 was appointed to the Board of Directors. She retired from the company in 2012. Prior to Williams-Sonoma, Sharon served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Dole Fresh Vegetables Inc., a division of Dole Food Company Inc. Today, she serves as a director on the boards of Signet Jewelers, Ltd. and Stitch Fix. In addition, Sharon serves on the privately held boards of PetSmart, Inc., Hallmark Cards, Inc., GetYourGuide AG and Art.com. Sharon also serves on the nonprofit boards of Sutter Health and ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Sharon previously served on the boards of Del Monte Foods Company, OfficeMax Incorporated, Whole Foods Market, Inc. and Williams-Sonoma, Inc. Sharon is also a certified public accountant and holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Central Oklahoma.

  • Neal Mohan

    Chief Product Officer, YouTube and SVP, Google

    Neal Mohan is Chief Product Officer at YouTube. He is responsible for YouTube products, user experience, and trust and safety on all platforms and devices globally. This includes YouTube on mobile, desktop and TV devices, experiences like YouTube Music, Kids, and VR, and YouTube’s two subscription services, YouTube Premium and YouTube TV. Products for media partners, content creators and musicians are also part of Neal’s portfolio. In his role ensuring trust and safety across the YouTube ecosystem, Neal oversees the creation and enforcement of its content policies and community guidelines. Neal serves on the Board of Directors for 23andMe. He has also served as a member of the Management Board for the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Neal has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Internet Advertising Bureau and the Mobile Marketing Association.

  • Mikkel Svane

    Founder and CEO, Zendesk

    Mikkel Svane co-founded Zendesk, Inc., and has served as its Chief Executive Officer since August 2007 and as a member of its board of directors since August 2007. He was appointed Chair of Zendesk's board of directors in January 2014. Prior to founding Zendesk, Mikkel founded and served as the Chief Executive Officer of Caput A/S, a software company, and served as a technology consultant. Mikkel holds an A.P. in marketing management from Arhus Kobmandsskole.

  • Liz Williams

    CEO, Drybar Holdings LLC

    Liz Williams is the CEO of Drybar Holdings LLC. Prior to this role, Williams was the President of Taco Bell International, where she was responsible for the brand strategy and performance of the International business, and CFO of Taco Bell, where under her financial leadership, the brand delivered six years of industry-leading sales, profit and brand growth. She played a key role repositioning the Taco Bell brand from food as fuel, to food as experience, and launching the breakthrough Doritos Locos Tacos and Breakfast Platforms. Prior to this, Williams spent six years with The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) as Principal in the Consumer and Retail practices in U.S. and Asian markets. She also spent seven years at Dell Computer in various finance, brand marketing and corporate sales positions. She received her bachelor’s degree, with a major in marketing, from the University of Texas Business Honors Program and earned her MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
