1. CELEBRATE VALENTINE’S DAY ON A DIFFERENT DATE
Who says you even have to celebrate in February? And why be constrained to the 14th? Pick a day that means the most to you both—or choose a random date, just because. A romantic gesture—minus the expectation—is even better.
2. ENROLL IN COOKING + WINE CLASSES
Yeah, good luck with that fancy dinner reservation. Ditch Jeeves to explore cooking and sommelier courses. It’ll be the gift that keeps on giving when you’re constantly busting out new dishes and wine pairings. Bon appetite!
3. GET AWAY
Face it: you could really use a vacation. New sights and sounds make for lifelong memories. Plan a surprise trip out of town—whether it’s a weekend drive or a faraway destination.
4. GIVE BACK, TOGETHER
Spend quality time together volunteering for a cause you both support. Have pets? Book a weekend session at a nearby animal shelter, for example.
5. TRY SOMETHING EXPERIENTIAL
Instead of a tangible gift, do something you both love or haven’t done before. Spend an evening at the museum (check for adult-only nights that include cocktails), take up archery or sign up for an improv class.
6. ADD SOME VINTAGE FEELS
Leave that “I ruff you” card in the grocery aisle. Gift them something original, like a vintage book or old vinyl record. For more sentimental value (I promised myself I wouldn’t cry), add a personal touch with a hand-written note.
7. START A NEW HOBBY
That interest your loved one keeps mentioning, but hasn’t started? Give them a nudge. Those tap lessons? Help them bust a move with some starter classes. Aspiring writer? Nothing a fresh notebook can’t cure.
8. RECREATE THE MAGIC
Still thinking about an amazing meal you shared together? Try recreating dishes from your first date or wedding. If you fail (or start a kitchen fire), at least you tried.
9. CREATE SOMETHING TOGETHER
Couples who craft together, stay together. (Isn’t that how the saying goes?) Sign up for a one-off art class together (pottery, drink & draw, screen printing, you name it). Or enjoy an evening in with a bottle of wine & some art supplies.
10. GIVE A STYLISH GIFT
